In the months of June, July and August, a combined visit to De Menkemaborg and Het Hoogeland open-air museum will be exceptionally good value. If you buy a ticket to either one of these museums, you will receive a 50% discount on an admission ticket for the other.
De Menkemaborg and Het Hoogeland are located a mere 10 kilometres apart. While the Groningen estate house in Uithuizen is a distinguished house from the 17th and 18th century, the open-air museum in Warffum displays life as it was for ordinary village residents from the 18th and 19th century. Together, the museums cover three centuries of history and complement each other perfectly. Visiting both provides a good image of life and living in the northern part of Groningen in the past.
